Summary
A joint online seminar between the ITTC in Optimal Ageing (Monash University) and RIKEN AIP on how human-robot interaction and digital health can support dementia care and prevention, as both Australia and Japan face rapid population ageing.
Talks cover digital and passive smartphone-based approaches to detecting preclinical cognitive decline (Prof. Yen Ying Lim, Monash), conversational assistive AI built on the Coimagination method for cognitive health (Prof. Mihoko Otake-Matsuura, RIKEN AIP), and how communication robots should adapt to older adults (Dr. Kazumi Kumagai, RIKEN AIP).
The program runs 13:00 to 15:30 JST and closes with a panel Q&A followed by informal discussion and virtual networking.
About the community
RIKEN AIP's public seminar series brings academic researchers to talk about their work in AI and related fields, often in partnership with international universities. Sessions are research talks followed by Q&A, open to anyone interested in the science.
