Summary
An intermediate hands-on workshop at TIB FAB inside Tokyo Innovation Base. Participants use the 3D CAD software Autodesk Fusion to design the enclosure for an infrared distance meter, with the design approached on the assumption that it will be printed on an FDM 3D printer, including the elements and tips needed for printing.
Topics cover enclosure design fundamentals, assemblies (putting parts together in CAD), and design techniques for 3D printing. No 3D printer is used during the session; the focus is on CAD design work. Beginners are advised to take the introductory 3D printing course first.
The workshop is free, limited to 6 people, and open to ages 15 and up. Bring a laptop with the Autodesk Fusion trial installed and a mouse, and register as a TIB member via the app in advance. It also suits people aiming to start a hardware business.
