Summary
A lecture-plus-hands-on workshop for people with no coding experience who want to understand how AI works from the ground up. Using Google Colab to run Python in the browser, it traces the development of AI from the Turing test through perceptrons to multilayer neural networks.
Participants compare rule-based AI with machine learning, build a simple rule-based chatbot with conditionals, train a perceptron on AND and OR and see why a single-layer model cannot solve XOR, then train a multilayer network on XOR with backpropagation in PyTorch and visualize the loss.
Held at Tokyo Innovation Base 2F TIB FAB. Free, capacity 5, ages 15 and up. Bring a laptop and a Google account; TIB membership registration is required.
About the community
TIB FAB is the maker and digital fabrication lab inside Tokyo Innovation Base, the Tokyo metropolitan innovation hub, and runs small hands-on courses for beginners on a regular basis. This session is part 1 of a series teaching AI fundamentals step by step in Google Colab.
