Summary
The "B-side" is the term this event uses for the personal activities and expertise a person keeps outside their main job (the "A-side"): side businesses, hobbies, a previous career, an unusual university major. This first edition of the B-Side Summit brings people with such a B-side together across company and organizational lines, so they can share the parts of themselves that a job title does not show and build connections from there.
The program includes a self-introduction round framed around each attendee's B-side, talks from people with notable B-sides, a session on applying a B-side to day-to-day work drawing on twelve years of practice, and open networking. The event runs on its own participants' B-sides as well: a DJ handles music, a photographer shoots the room, a barista serves coffee, and a comedian performs a short sketch. A directory of attendees' B-sides is also planned.
The venue is Tokyo Innovation Base 2F ROOM in Marunouchi, with doors at 13:30 and the program running 14:00 to 16:00. It is organized by Dentsu B Team (Dentsu Inc.) and co-hosted by Creative Project Base Inc. People who already have a B-side, people curious about the idea, and people hearing the term for the first time are all welcome.
About the community
This is a deliberately loose gathering built around the idea of the "B-side", aimed at working adults who carry something personal alongside their main job: a side business, a hobby, a former career, a niche field of study. It is not a showcase of expertise; conversation starts from introductions that drop job titles, so people already active in their B-side and people hearing the term for the first time take part on the same footing. This is the first edition, and a directory of attendees' B-sides is planned so the cross-organizational network outlasts the day itself.
