[Okinawa Municipalities Presenting, Networking Session Included] Turning Okinawa's Social Challenges into New Business Opportunities | Social X Acceleration for Okinawa 2026

This is the kickoff seminar for "Social X Acceleration for OKINAWA", a public-private co-creation accelerator program run by the Cabinet Office's Okinawa General Bureau. Eight municipalities from Okinawa (Yonabaru, Uruma, Nishihara, Miyakojima, Nago, Haebaru, Onna, and the Okinawa prefectural government) will present the concrete problems their regions face, the background behind them, and the future they are working toward, aimed at companies and startups. The program runs the municipal challenge pitches in two blocks, with a case study on business growth through public-private collaboration and an overview of Cabinet Office support measures for startups in Okinawa in between. Organizers will also walk through the acceleration program that attendees can enter after the seminar, covering application, screening, and the support available to selected companies for setting up proof-of-concept projects with municipalities, including subsidy-backed trials. A networking session after the pitches lets attendees ask municipal staff directly about the background and current state of each challenge (on-site participants only). The event is hybrid, admission is free, capacity is 100 people, and applications close on August 3, 2026. A separate Naha session is scheduled for August 6.
