SCALE Batch2 Kickoff Special Session: When Pay No Longer Decides, How Do People Choose a Company?

Kickoff event for Batch2 of the SCALE Program, a Tokyo Metropolitan Government SUTEAM accelerator focused on hiring and organizational design. Ten selected seed to early-stage startups pitch their growth hypotheses, their path to winning, and the organizational problems they are working through. The special session that follows asks where people choose to work once compensation is no longer the deciding factor. Speakers discuss how startups can compete against the high pay and rich incentive packages of large domestic and foreign firms by using stock options, real autonomy, and purpose. Scheduled speakers are Shinichiro Yamamoto, Director and Head of HR at Google Japan, and Shoji Miyata, founder of SmartHR and now head of Nstock. The evening runs from 18:00 with the ten startup pitches, a talk session from 19:00, and networking from 20:00. The venue is Tokyo Innovation Base 2F STAGE, attendance is free, and arriving late or leaving early is fine. It is aimed at startup founders and HR leads, VC/CVC investors, corporate partners, and people considering a move into a startup.
