Summary
A hands-on workshop where participants start from sample code for a self-driving mini car that only goes straight, and use Python to make it follow a course and avoid obstacles. The session covers feedback control from sensor input and safe-stop patterns using while loops with try / finally, giving a practical first look at robotics implementation.
The second half is a tuning challenge: bundle parameters such as speed, distance, and angle, then iterate to hit the fastest lap. The class is capped at 5 seats, open to ages 15 and up, and free. It runs at TIB FAB on the 2nd floor of Tokyo Innovation Base in Marunouchi. Bring a laptop that can connect to Wi-Fi.
About the community
TIB FAB is the maker space on the 2nd floor of Tokyo Innovation Base, run by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. It gives entrepreneurs and engineers access to equipment such as 3D printers and laser cutters, alongside small-group workshops for prototyping and trying new tools. Programming, robotics, and digital fabrication classes run there on an ongoing basis.
