Summary
Part of TIB FAB's specialized skills series, this workshop builds a compact FM radio while teaching PCB mounting and component-placement techniques for tight-tolerance enclosures. The focus is on going beyond simple kit assembly: learning how to fit a working circuit into a minimal case, with attention to mechanical case design and the basics of laser cutting. Participants take home the finished radio. The curriculum covers parts-placement know-how for product design, case fabrication via laser cutting, and is pitched at people aiming to start a manufacturing business as well as those with standard soldering experience. The session is capped at 5 attendees, open to ages 15 and up. Standard soldering skill is assumed; absolute beginners are directed to a separate intro session on soldering, testers, and oscilloscopes. Venue is Tokyo Innovation Base 2F TIB FAB, fee is 700 yen, and meet-up time is 11:50. Advance registration in the TIB member app is required.
About the community

TIB FAB is the fabrication floor inside Tokyo Innovation Base, the metropolitan government's startup hub in Marunouchi. It runs a recurring program of hands-on specialized-skills workshops (soldering, laser cutting, PCB work, case design) aimed at adults building toward manufacturing-led products and hardware startups.
