TechBrunch is a small, recurring gathering that pairs a relaxed restaurant meal with serious technical conversation. This edition focuses on functional programming and category theory: the mathematical foundations underneath languages like Clojure, Haskell, OCaml and Scala, and how those ideas show up in everyday software design. Expect deep dives into monoids, functors, applicatives and monads, plus discussion of where category theory genuinely helps when structuring code, and how it connects to algebra, graph theory, set theory and topology. The format is conversational rather than a lecture, so people who work with these languages, mathematicians who use category theory, and the simply curious all fit. The group meets at Beltempo, the restaurant inside Hotel Metropolitan Edmont in Iidabashi. RSVPs matter here: the organizers may relocate within the venue, so unregistered drop-ins may not find the group. First-time attendees who RSVP and appear on the confirmed attendee list get their meal covered. This is deliberately a small event, not a large conference-style meetup.
