Summary
A casual weekday-evening networking event held in the free space of the U-NEXT office at Meguro Central Square in Tokyo. The format is deliberately light: participants are split into small groups and the groups are reshuffled several times during the evening so everyone speaks with a range of people, with open mingling toward the end.
Staff from U-NEXT give a presentation on the company's businesses and its working culture, which gives the evening some content beyond pure mingling and a look at how one Japanese tech company operates. Past attendees have included backend, frontend, infrastructure and data engineers, designers, founders and CTOs, freelancers, PMOs, recruiters, people moving into engineering roles, and new graduates, so the room tends to mix career stages and specialties.
Entry costs 900 yen paid in advance by Stripe (the payment link opens the day before) or 1,000 yen on the day in cash or PayPay. Priority goes to people who pay in advance or who reply to the host's message. Entrance instructions are sent to registered attendees closer to the date.
About the community
A Tokyo-based group that runs regular casual networking evenings for people working in and around IT, often hosted in the office of a partner company. Sessions mix engineers, designers, founders, recruiters and career changers, and use rotating small groups rather than open-floor mingling so newcomers are not left standing alone. Events usually carry a small fee and a short talk from the host company.
