Tech Brunch Event

TechBrunch pairs a casual weekend meal with a single technical theme, and this edition takes on functional programming and category theory. The group plans to work through concepts such as monoids, functors, applicatives and monads, and to discuss where those abstractions actually earn their place in software design. The session suits people who write Clojure, Haskell, OCaml or Scala, mathematicians who use category theory in their own work, and developers who are simply curious about the mathematical side of programming. Conversation is expected to wander into neighbouring areas as well, including algebra, graph theory, set theory and topology. The meetup happens over brunch at Beltempo, the restaurant inside Hotel Metropolitan Edmont near Iidabashi. It is deliberately a small gathering, so RSVPs matter: the group may relocate within the venue, and first-time attendees who RSVP and appear on the confirmed list have their meal covered.
