Tech Brunch Event

This edition of TechBrunch focuses on computational humor: what happens when natural language processing is pointed at comedy. The group plans to work through theories of humor, look at demos of joke generators, and review the datasets used to train and evaluate them. The format is a relaxed brunch at Beltempo, the restaurant inside Hotel Metropolitan Edmont near Iidabashi, running about an hour around midday. Comedians, writers, computational linguists, software developers, and data scientists are all named as the intended audience, and no prior work in the area is assumed. Attendance is by RSVP. The organizers note the group may relocate within the venue, so signing up in advance is how you find them, and they may start a little before the posted time. First-time attendees who RSVP and appear on the confirmed list have their meal covered. This is deliberately a small gathering rather than a large meetup.
