Summary
OpenAI and Tokyo AI (TAI) host an afternoon-to-evening hackathon and workshop for developers who want to rapidly prototype AI-native applications using OpenAI tools, APIs, and Codex. Participants work in teams of two to four (or solo) across two open tracks: B2B solutions that streamline organizational workflows, and consumer or creative use cases. OpenAI engineers provide live demos, technical guidance, and hands-on implementation help throughout the roughly 150 minutes of build time. The session runs from an introduction and technical context, through collaborative prototyping, project showcases with technical feedback, and closes with awards and food. Projects are judged on problem significance, creative use of OpenAI tools and Codex, demo quality, and future potential. All participants receive 250 dollars in OpenAI API credits and three months of ChatGPT Pro with Codex access, with track prizes of up to 25,000 dollars in OpenAI credits. The target audience is intermediate-to-advanced developers, startup builders, engineers, and technical creators, with capacity for 40 to 50 people via an application and selection process. The event is conducted in English and Japanese, with team formation supported through TAI's Discord.
