Summary
An edition of the "Narrative Observatory", a study group run jointly by Code for Japan and SEARCHLIGHT Inc. that observes online mis- and disinformation across platforms and over time. Code for Japan brings analysis from BirdXplorer, its tool for analyzing X Community Notes, while SEARCHLIGHT analyzes claims on video platforms such as YouTube and TikTok, aiming to capture shifts in narratives that one-off analyses miss.
This session features guest speaker Professor Hiroyuki Fujishiro of Hosei University's Faculty of Sociology, presenting on the Kumamoto earthquake and the Okinawa gubernatorial election. Code for Japan and SEARCHLIGHT will also share their latest observations, with Q&A after each presentation. It is held online via Zoom, free of charge, and aimed at journalists, researchers, and practitioners working on countering mis- and disinformation.
