Summary
Code for Japan's annual summit, themed "Public Sector and AI" for 2026. Government staff, citizens, engineers and researchers gather to discuss public services, policymaking processes, AI adoption in government and civic collaboration in the digital age. The keynote is by Arisa Ema, associate professor at the University of Tokyo's Tokyo College, on social design in the AI era, followed by a conversation session that draws on civic dialogue efforts abroad.
Sessions include a dialogue on building public consensus around Kakogawa City's AI-assisted safety cameras, a case study of generative AI adoption support in Saga City, and a workshop on turning municipal staff pain points into specs an AI can act on. The venue is Bellesalle Kudan (about 300 capacity), with a networking party afterward. There is no online attendance this year, but an archive video is planned, and all sessions are expected to have live captions via UD Talk.
