Summary
The Human Signal is an interactive workshop for founders, entrepreneurs and startup professionals on the human side of selling: how trust is built, how value is communicated, and how customer relationships hold together across cultures. It expands on an earlier pilot run with Venture Cafe Tokyo, with more time to go deeper into the framework, work through real examples and apply it to your own startup. The session covers the Four Layers of Human Sales (Right Audience, Right Moment, Right Message, Right Emotion), how products move customers from one emotional state to another, and how to build offers and messages around genuine customer value. It also looks at human-centred inbound and outbound sales without becoming pushy, the differences in trust and communication between Japan and Western markets, and how to adapt a message across cultures without losing authenticity, with founder and startup case studies throughout. Participants work through the Emotional Sales Canvas, a practical exercise they can apply to their business immediately, and the evening closes with founder sharing, Q&A and networking. The workshop runs in English at Tokyo Innovation Base, participation is free, and light non-alcoholic refreshments are served during the networking session.
About the community

The workshop is aimed at startup founders, entrepreneurs, business development professionals and students who want stronger customer relationships or are expanding internationally. The format is deliberately participatory: a walkthrough of the framework, a hands-on canvas exercise, then founder sharing and open networking. Sessions run in English, are free to attend, and are educational rather than a commercial sales pitch.
