Summary
A JJUG Night Seminar marking the 30th anniversary of the Java Community Process (JCP). Heather VanCura, Chair of JCP, who is visiting Japan, will talk about the international mechanism by which Java specifications are standardized. The session covers what is new in Java 26 and beyond, plus how to take part in the community, including the working groups for education, ecosystem, and AI.
In the second half, Hiroto Yamakawa, leader of the Java User Group Hokkaido (Java Do), takes the stage. The group recently won the JCP Annual Awards "Java in Education Community Award" on its 10th anniversary. He looks back over a decade supported by companies, educational institutions, and regional communities, and reflects on what "the power and value of community" means and how it has been put to use.
The venue is Microsoft Japan in Shinagawa, an in-person event starting at 19:00.
About the community
A long-running Java developer community in Japan that runs recurring evening seminars on the Java platform, language standardization, and ecosystem topics. Sessions mix Japanese and English talks and draw working engineers interested in Java's evolution.
