Summary
OSS Gate launched in December 2015 and turns ten in December 2025. To mark the anniversary the community is holding its first in-person conference, OSS Gate Pass, at CASE Shinjuku in Tokyo. The event looks back on a decade of workshops and onboarding sessions aimed at growing the population of people who keep contributing to OSS. The program centers on short ten-minute talks from past participants, sharing what stuck with them, what helped, and what they noticed along the way. First-time speakers are explicitly welcomed. Talk proposals go through a GitHub issue on a first-come basis, and speakers traveling from outside Tokyo can have travel and lodging covered. Sponsorships are open at bronze (10,000 yen), silver (50,000 yen), and gold (100,000 yen) tiers, plus negotiable options. Funds go toward speaker travel from outside Tokyo and the after-party. ClearCode, Inc. handles sponsor inquiries through its contact form.
About the community

OSS Gate is a community active since 2015 with the goal of steadily growing the number of people who keep contributing to open source. It runs first-step workshops where newcomers experience OSS development, plus onboarding sessions that support the second step, building safe spaces for beginners across regional chapters.
