Visit experience

The event followed a flexible “come and go as you please” format, which allowed attendees to join and leave at any time. I arrived about half an hour after the event started and found several people already working. The majority of attendees arrived a bit later. This event had a unique setup where everyone brought their laptops and worked on their own projects. However, it was also easy to join others at their tables and engage in conversation.

Some attendees were deeply focused on their work, while others were more inclined to socialize. I spent most of my time networking and meeting new people, only opening my laptop briefly to check a website someone mentioned. The only structured part of the event was a round of self-introductions at 1:00 PM, which was optional to participate in. Participants could share their expertise, seek advice, or simply state what they were working on.

By 5:30 PM, many people started to leave, and the event officially ended at 6:00 PM. However, attendees were welcome to stay in the café area of the event space even after the official closing time.

Who Should Attend

This coworking event is ideal for individuals who want to work in a collaborative environment surrounded by like-minded people. It’s particularly beneficial for freelancers, entrepreneurs, and those working on side projects. The event provides opportunities for networking and casual conversations.

Who Should Not Attend

This event is not suitable for those looking for a place to have loud conversations. It’s also not ideal for individuals whose work requires a high level of concentration and a distraction-free environment.

Venue

Impact HUB is a coworking and event space primarily designed for entrepreneurs but also hosts various other events. Located just a 10-minute walk from Meguro Station, the venue is quiet, bright, and conducive to slow, meaningful conversations.

IndieBeers Meetup

There’s a café on-site that serves lunches, desserts, and coffee ☕️, adding to the convenience and comfort of the space.

Conclusion

The Japan Dev event at Impact HUB is a fantastic opportunity for freelancers, entrepreneurs, and side-gig workers to work in a collaborative environment while networking with like-minded individuals. The venue’s bright and quiet atmosphere, along with the flexibility of the event format, makes it a pleasant and productive experience. However, it’s not the best fit for those seeking a place for loud conversations or requiring a highly focused work environment.
